Little Penguins of St Kilda
Did you know that St Kilda has a colony of Little Penguins living on the breakwater of St Kilda Pier? This colony of around 1000 have lived there since 1974 and it is one of the few places in the world where you can see them living so close to a major City CBD, only 10 km away from Melbourne!
Guests at HabitatHQ can become a volunteer for the night in conjunction with Earth Care on Monday for our Little Penguin walk! We take you for a short 10 minute stroll down to St Kilda Pier, via the iconic Luna Park, to visit these little guys and help protect them from flash photography and over zealous visitors! Ask at reception to sign up, our numbers are limited!
You can also wander down there yourself any day at sunset to get a glimpse of St Kilda's very special Urban Little Penguins. We love them and we know you will too!
